when i got my iphone, knowing that it has phone and ipod functions, i thought it would have games as good as on cell phones and ipods.

is apple going to release games for purchase?
i would love to play with the touch screen controls in some games.

Right at the moment, no one knows for sure. There is no SDK for the iPhone and Apple has suggested that the phone will be a closed platform. However, it's very obvious that iPhone has what amounts to 0.5 software on it right now. It's VERY likely that Apple will update it aggressively over the next few months. They need to address a number of fairly serious issues with the phone's core functions before they move on to adding applications of any kind.

One thing that I think bears thinking about: the home screen on iPhone has room for another row of applications. Four more could be added before the home screen was filled up. I can practically guarantee that Apple will fill up those final four slots at some point in the very near future. Will some of them be games? Maybe. Will any of them be third party applications? I wouldn't bet the farm on it. I think it's vastly more likely that Apple will provide any additional native applications themselves long before they allow any third party development, if they ever do.

My two cents.

I've always thought they'd add an arrow for left and right on that bottom row.
In my mind, they seemed to have taken some cues from the Wii interface.

Or cooler still would be a rolodex type interface where it jumps to the page of apps as you slide your finger across the bottom of the screen so flipping through tens of "pages" full of apps would not be such a hassle.

There's some logic in that for sure. It'll be interesting to see what they do. Either way, I'm sure that more actual native aps are coming to iPhone.

just wait and see. Apple wont give up any opportunity to make money.

for any additional botton, get ready to pay 39.99 or 99 cents a month

No way they'll charge any 99 cents a month. That's not Apple's style. And I wouldn't be too quick to jump to the conclusion that Apple will charge for additional non-game applications. Games, yes. Non games, doubt it.
