I am looking for an all-in-one solution for the iphone in the car. I have a 2006 Hyundai with stock CD player so I imagine I will have to purchase a new head unit?

The ideal solution would be to drop the iphone in a dock that would (1) charge the phone, (2) play music through car speakers, (3) mute the music when a call comes in, allow me to answer the call, have a microphone located somewhere in the car interior, then resume the music when the call ends.

I have read a few reviews on Parrot devices, the iDA-X001, etc. I am looking something that is seamless with no glitches (like putting phone in airplane mode, etc). Is there something out there that can do all this in one package or do I need to wait? I don't really want to buy a separate bluetooth system and then also buy a separate head unit that allows me to connect the iphone for music.

Thanks in advance.

iDA-X001 is the way to go, though I don't know about answering calls. I haven't hooked my iphone up to my x001 yet.

In this regard, am really dissapointed iPhone has no Stereo BT, yet.

If u get X001, be sure it's iPhone compatible.

Once again, anybody asking question, TELL US WHAT YOUR BUDGET is would save everybody lotsa time.

Thanks for the replies!

I would like to keep it under 500.

I have no need for upgraded speakers and I don't have steering wheel controls. I don't really even need a head unit if it is possible to get a nice mount and stereo connectivity with my stock car stereo.

Only requirements are:

(1) stereo connectivity with the ipod (no FM transmitters)
(2) automatic muting or music and answering of calls
(3) microphone in interior of car
(4) resume music upon call disconnect
(5) nice clean doc solution (don't want multiple wires running to different places) -- just one doc that I set my iphone into which automatically connects to stereo and bluetooth system and also charges the phone.

Thanks

Hi, I am looking to buy a new stereo head unit for my car also. I would like to use my Iphon's ipod features through the head unit itself.

let me know if you bought a good head unit with iPod music playback on your Iphone

the iphone pauses the ipod functionality when you take a call
and when in an apple dock it defaults the phone calls to speakerphone

hopefully someone thinks of a way around the line-out issue....

I have a Kenwood double din headunit (DDX-7015) with the KCA-iP500 interface. It worked great with my old iPhone. Now my new iPhone 3G will play music through my stereo, but it won't charge the battery. Looks like I might have to upgrade my stereo. I hear the newer stereos actually use USB to connect to iPods/iPhones.
