??????? Ok I have man hands not lady hands and it seems when Im using the keyboard for texting or emailing my thumb is way too big. Why cant they make it where you can turn it sideways to make the letters bigger and easier to use?

I have mean old sausage fingers and when I tried it out at the Apple Store, long-ways seemed to be smoother than landscape.

Well Im sorry you dislike my opinion but Im a little sour because I just payed 600 for a phone that is already going in for repair because the volumes too low, when Im on the Maps or Internet, half way through it cuts out and goes to the main screen and gets the occasional freeze. Oh ya and I have alittle oversized hands and its impossible to type but its all in poor taste.

well its first generation software. There is supposed to be flaws(not intentionally but its also kind of expected) and if you don't like the phone then just take it back or you van just wait for the update(s) that will fix these problems

Just blast away with your fat fingers and trust the error correction. My speed improved when I started using the full pad of my thumb instead of using the tip and trying to precisely hit the correct letter.

Ditto. I can type very quickly on it and my fingers aren't anywhere close to slender. As the finger tips say... trust the software and you will be fine.

I like the phone minus a few problems.

You have to give it time. It is an adaptive keyboard. I have big fat fingers as well and I can attest that my keyboard has gotten easier to use over time. I thought I was SOL on day one, but now I can type extremely fast so I guess they were right about it learning my typing patterns. Or maybe I'm just imagining it, but whatever it is, I type much better with it today than I did the day I got it.

I pitty your wife, if you misunderstood my remark that bad. I'm not saying the phone is perfect, I just did not like the girlie man remark. As if girls can't design anything right... now do you get it.

That in no way was a remark towards a girl, if anything it was a remark towards the littler guys that designed it.
Girly man was from that picture if your old enough you will remember what SNL skit that was.

My parents pointed that out when they saw the advertisements. They asked how someone who has massive hands (like my dad) could use the keyboard on the iPhone. Maybe its just for Paris Hilton types with thin fingers or something. I could use it, but my parents couldn't.

I was able to type perfectly withing five minutes of trying it out at the Apple store.

I too have big fat sausage fingers. At first I was typing one fingered with my index, but that got old. After having it only a couple of weeks, I can type almost as fast as I could on the crack-berry using my thumbs.
The error correction is really good, and I don't know if the phone is learning how I type, or I'm learning where to hit to get the letters, but either way, it's getting much easier. Just give it time... it gets better, I swear.

Yes, I also was surprised, there is no stylus and no voice command.

You're still not getting it! You talk about the design as if a female couldn't have POSSIBLY been involved in designing the iPhone. Which is ridiculous! :shake:
Like others have said in this thread, it doesn't really matter - the error correction will fix almost everything.

It's getting old? I made one post about it. ;)
I just wanted to post a friendly reminder that females ARE in fact intelligent and capable of engineering things, since the OP and many others seem to have forgotten that. :D

Oh give it a rest. He wasn't insinuating females were incapable of designing the iPhone, or anything for that matter.
You seem to be the only one who managed to distort the meaning to fit your obviously misplaced crusade.
Oh, and if the iPhone WERE designed by a woman (which is NOT was he's joking about duhh), seems to me it'd be safe to assume the keyboard would still be small and difficult to type on.
