Had my iphone since 6/30 and love it - but notice that it always has the blue "E" for Edge, even when wi-fi is present. Sitting here at home with wireless, it just always has the E. I check the settings and everything is OK - is anyone else having the same thing happen?

If it has the Edge E, then that is what it's using, not Wifi. Have you ever seen the Wifi symbol? Have you turned Wifi on (in the general settings)?

I've seen the wi-fi icon pop up, but then disappears. I have wireless here at home and use it all over the house. All my settings are turned on and it recognizes the network. Just don't know why it doesn't switch to it....

I'm confused when you say it's recognizing the network, but that it's never switching to it - what did you mean by that? When you go into the Wifi settings, does your home SSID pop up? If so and you have the 'ask to join networks' option turned on, is it really NEVER switching to it, or RARELY switching to it. If it's the latter, it could he a signal strength issue. I've noticed the iPhone has a weaker Wifi receiver than by other Wifi devices.

By recognizing, I mean when I go to settings, wi-fi setting is ON, my network shows up, and ask to join in ON. I can stand right by my router and still will not switch. Are there any other settings I need to change? When I click on the network settings, it defaults to DHCP and the HTTP proxy is OFF.

Your settings are the same as mine, so not sure. Has your phone found any other Wifi networks when you've been out? If so, that would pinpoint something with your network, and if not, might ne a problem with your iPhone. Might be worth trying a reset of the iPhone to see if that helps at all.

I use to have the same problem but theoretically if you've logged onto your home network before it should automatically connect, thats what mine does when I am at home. If you're at the home screen and the E still shows try connecting to something that can use the wifi, like opening safari or check your email and see if it switches over thats what mine does.

try hitting 'forget this network. then reconnect to the wifi network again..should work.

I have the same exact problem. Thing is, I know other computers have a hard time accessing the internet when they connect to the wifi network. Only my laptop and my roommate's get internet access from this network, nothing else will. I think it may be a router problem and I'm hoping to fix it soon.

Worst case, I need a new router.
