Recommendations? Marine Stereo's with iPod Connection

I am looking for a great car/marine stereo. Alpine seems to be leading the way with cars, but is there anyone who has these installed inside on a boat. Usual marine head-ends have coated circuit boards to resist the higher humidity (and possibly salinity) in marine environments.

Looking for recommendations:

for now I am considering and would prefer something with remote control:

My personal belief is marine stereos are either overkill or a marketing ploy. But there are certain merits that I find appealing. Anyone ever tried the
Jensen MSR3007 (189$)
or
Clarion M475 (229$)

I am looking to use the Jensen MSR2007 in my 1971 Oldsmobile Cutlass. The only problem I am having is finding out how long I can extend the iPod Data Interface cable and still maintain control over the iPod. I want to mount the tuner/amplifier in the trunk, but the standard interface cable marketed by Jensen is only 7.5' long, I will need about 17'.
