iPod quitting in the middle of very long songs.

Okay, I think this might have been already answered, but I've tried searching the forums for it and have had no luck.

I am having a problem with some very long tracks I have. They are from mix albums that I wanted to preserve as mixes.
At a certain point in these tracks, they just quit. It is usually within the first 6-8 minutes of the track.
Is this a known issue, or am I doing something wrong?

I am having the same issue.. I have some tracks thsat play fine on my PC in MM Jukebox .. but stop in the middle on the ipod.

I'vd had the same issue when I try and get the Ipod to play an album that is recorded as on long MP3, only when I am playing it through my home stereo. After about 4 minutes the Ipod just switches off. I haven't had the same problem when I am playing the same MP3 using the headphones. (new 15Gb)

This has been discussed at length on the forum... Seems to be the consensus is poor .mp3 quality rips. Try re-ripping, and see if the same problem happens (assuming you own the CD).

Many of my .mp3's that i've had from the Napster days skip or quit during the middle of the songs...

Okay, so if the iPod is quitting during these songs, and other programs are not, does that mean that the iPod is an inferior decoder/reader?
It seems to me that if one program can read an mp3 without error, another should be able to do it also.
Therefore, this must be fixable on apples part.
Just a thought.

Same here! I agree and not forgetting the minor issue of having long pauses when im jogging with my ipod. That really sux and i get really annoyed especially after having bought the "best mp3 player" better than running with a chunky cd player.

I disagree with the consensus that it must be poor quality rips. I had an original 5 meg ipod and it played all of my mp3's flawlessly. It is only with my new 15 meg ipod that I'm getting the premature ending of songs.
