So far, I have visited 2 websites that are giving me the "watered down" version of the internet.

mlb.com & bofa.com will not allow me to browse thier sites correctly, only giving me thier "mobile" version. Am I going to have to wait for them to fix this issue on thier side or is there anyway to get into these sites as full functioning webpages?

That is totally on their the servers side, they have decided to only provide iphones with mobile web pages...

They are checking the useragent of the browser and telling it to send mobile pages instead of normal ones, if you edit the useragent in firefox to show iphone it will do the same... #######s...

Yup, all server side.

However, in the second one, are you going explicitly to the mobile site?

No, in the iPhone Safari browser, I am entering www.bofa.com and it redirects me to the mobile site.

Do you think if they get enough complaints, they will bother to fix this issue. I am sure the mlb.com advertisers wont be happy to find out all the iPhone users are missing out on seeing thier ads!

Ya complaints are your best bet at the moment.

Looks like MLB is doing it because their site is mostly Flash-oriented. But you can get around the re-direct by browsing directly to http://mlb.mlb.com/index.jsp. But you won't get a lot of content.
