I have a Netgear WGT624 v3 108 Mbps Wireless Firewall Router. I added iPhone to my Access Setup List, put in the WEP key and the iPhone shows a check mark in the setting saying it's connected to the router.

Wifi won't override EDGE like the manual says. I have a computer in another room hooked up to the wireless router with no problem, but my iPhone won't get connected via Wifi when I am sitting right next to the router. Any suggestions?

Had the same problem when I fist setup. I just used the "Forget this Network" button. Shut off the iPhone, restarted then re added and it has worked fine since.

I pressed Forget the Network, and held the Home button down for 6 seconds. Went to Safari and it starts with the Wifi icon, but it didn't download anything. It switched to EDGE and it started downloading.

When that didn't work, I held down the Power button to turn off the device. When I turned it back on, it showed the Wifi icon, but switched to EDGE right away.

I've tried this process a couple of times now with no luck. Any other suggestions?

The check mark is next to the Wifi network in Setting and it looks fine. My router says the MAC address from my iPhone is in the Access Setup List.

I turned off all security on the router and the Wifi connection for my iPhone worked immediately.

I'll try using the WPA security and see if that will work for me.

WPA is better anyway. Also, you might have had mac address filtering on. If so, don't bother. WPA is plenty.

Yeah, I've always had the MAC address filtering on. I check and re-check and re-check the MAC address for the iPhone and it's definitely correct on my router.

Really, I wouldn't bother with both. WPA works just fine. MAC address filtering only prevents novice users from logging on to your network. WPA or Wep is already doing the same thing.

Hiding your SSID is the same thing. Don't bother. It's just an inconvenience for you.

WPA or WEP will be just fine. However, WEP is easily breakable and slow.

Thank you everybody for you help. Wifi is working for me now.

For some reason, WEP wouldn't work, but I got it working using no security, WPA and WPA2 settings. Now I'm using WPA2 and it works great (so far).

This is my first Apple product ever. I had to have the iPhone the first time I saw it in Janunary. Thanks again!
