Well it seems like the software required for Iphone is not installed.
You should run iTunes installer to remove iTunes and install iTunes again.

Same problem here on my vista buisness 64 and ultimate 64.

Looks like Apple drops the vista 64 ball. I'm kind of shocked by this.

64 bit isn't supported by many so it doesn't really surprise me.

It surprises me because its not known by ANY of there employees including there tech support. That seems like something they should have in there documentation, and possibly made an announcement about.

Reading the documentation, it is there, although in small print. It has been talked about at engadget.

Yes, I pointed it out to the guys at engadget and they did some digging and came up with that article and posted the info. Still kind of weird that I spent an hour on the phone with tech support and another 30 minutes this morning with a tech guy and neither of them knew this.

every computer game package has system requirements which contains all the supported OS systems. i guess Apple intentionally skipped the accouncement. they didnt have time to get the 64bit driver out.

my 64 bit XP wroks fine with my video ipod

I was getting the same thing today on Vista 64bit Ultimate! "iTunes was not installed correctly, you wont to be able to burn or import CDs. Run iTunes installer to remove iTunes and install iTunes again" and it wouldn't detect my iPod! I uninstalled and installed 4 times!
I just spent 45 min on the phone with apple support! After putting me on hold for the third time, he concluded that he can't do anything because it was "a problem with Microsoft"! >:-(
