I picked my Iphone up around 9pm with relative ease. I had maybe a 5 minute wait at my local apple store. I get it home and it looks like its working, until I try to sync it to my Itunes and it keeps giving me an error message of "The software required for Iphone is not installed. Run iTunes installer to remove iTunes and installe iTunes again."

I follow the error message several times in various ways and I still get the same results. I then call apple's tech support and I was on the phone with the guy for about an hour and he recommends synching it to a different pc. I try to and I get the same error message.

So my Ipod looks fine out of the box, but its really DOA. Just figured I would let you guys know in the event you keep getting the same error message like I did. I did a search for it and couldn't find anything.

did you actually download itunes 7.3? Because obviously the iPhone won't work without it.

i got the same problem.

MY iPhone doesnt work with my Windows XP PRO 64bit

it works with my Windows XP home (non-64bit)

it works with my gf's Windows Vista Home (non-64bit)

it seems Apply doesnt make a 64bit driver for iPhones

This is likely unrelated to your problem, but it might help anyway:

My phone needed to be power-cycled before it “saw” the activation.

It looks like its a 64 bit problem. I brought the iphone back to the store today and the tech guy plugged it in and it worked right off the bat.
