I have searched all over and can't seem to find an answer.

I have a KVT-911DVD Kenwood indash 6.5 monitor. Its the 2nd kenwood indash tv kenwood produced and obviously doesn't have ipod controls. I do have many audio/video inputs available. I am trying to hook the ipod up to my indash and have the menus show up on my monitor, not just videos I play. I bought the RCA cable with the video output put it doesn't do what I am looking for.

I am going to hide the ipod on my center console and I have a wireless remote which I am going to use to control the functions of the ipod. I just need the playlists and everything from the home screen to the settings to be viewable on my indash. Can I get a ipod cable that plugs into the bottom of the ipod to do this? Or is this just something I want but cant do?

Thanks in advance.

The iPod cannot output its menus via its video out, it can only display pictures and videos. So you won't be able to do that. You can purchase a 3rd party dock that will output a menu similar to the iPod's but that dock runs about $200 and I don't know if it accepts DC power input.

As far as a wireless remote setup, there are many first and 3rd party options. You can purchase the Apple dock and IR remote, you can then purchase a DC car charger and plug that into the dock. That will wirelessly control your iPod and charge it at the same time. However, due to the nature of 1st and 3rd party remotes, you will need to be able to see your iPod the entire time. You can't just stuff it in a console and close the hatch.

I guess you won't be able to do what you want as the iPod cannot output its menus to a video source and you need to have access to your iPod when using a IR remote. I haven't seen any bluetooth remotes, you could use bluetooth without having direct access to your iPod but you still have the menu output problem.

Thank you so much for the information. I guess its time to upgrade to the new model kenwood indash tv. I would settle for the jensen indash as it does exactly what I need it to do IE: charge, and display audio menus. But I have the kenwood music keg with a 10 gig hard drive and the kenwood sirius satellite radio and a few other kenwood pieces. I work in car stereo so my employee discounts will help out a ton!! Thanks again for the info.
