For my in car iPod installation (audio will be connected to the radio using an FM modulator) I need to be able to stop the iPod from playing when the ignition is switched off - and start the iPod playing when the car is started. (In other words start the audio playing where it previoulsy left off since I listen to audio books when I'm driving.)

Seems like an easy problem to solve but haven't had much luck finding an adapter that can do this.

I came across the Peripheral "PXOD" ( http://peripheralelectronics.com/prodDetail.asp?strProductID=469&strCategory=iPod%20Solutions&strSearch=pxod ) which appears to do exactly what i want to do.

Any body had any experience with this adapter? - or can provide any advice or other suggestions on being able to control the on/off of the ipod.

Many thanks.

I believe with the right power adapter, u can auto-pause, and NOT auto-start.

I find auto-start on traditional radios not a desirable feature anyways, blasted myself so many times.....

Thanks for your comments bobb-mini.

"Auto-pause" when the ignition is turned off will work fine - and not "auto-starting" when the car is re-started is OK as long as I can manually hit resume or play on the ipod so that (importantly) audio playback resumes at the point where it was auto-paused.

Is this correct?

Have you tried using the PXOD Omnidock or can you suggest a similar better generic adapter?
