Hey guys, I want to add a folder full of tons of songs to my library. So I went to file-add fodler to library to add it, and selected the folder but nothing happened with i clicked add. What's the problem? Any ideas?

Thanks guys

What version of iTunes are you running? There was a problem like this (I think with 7.0?) where you had to drag and drop folders rather than use the menu File/Add Folder.

7.2.0.35

Something like that. This is really annoying me, I can't add any files to my library, or any of my folders with music.!

I was about to pose this question as well. When I click "Add folder to library", I am adding a folder that I put one new mp3 in a week. Thus, I'd rather iTunes automatically add the one mp3 to my library for me. It isn't doing this, so instead I have to pick "Add File to Library" to get it to work.

I have version 7.2.0.34 for Windows. No one else is experiencing this problem?

It sucks, I have about 1800 songs in a folder, and it won't load up for me into itunes.

No one else is experiencing this problem? This isn't a "problem" ... iTunes doesn't babysit folders looking for new things to add automatically, you've always had to manually add new material. There is a 3rd part utility from Galleytech.com that does this, but I've never used it.

I feel your pain, I know we aren't the only ones with this problem. It has been happening to me off and on for a couple of months now, and I'm just starting to notice that it isn't "Catching" the new mp3s I drop into different folders. Its rough having to do a search in iTunes for each individual song to make sure it added it. I don't know what the deal is, maybe someone in the forum does.

OK, then could you please explain to me what "Add A Folder to iTunes" is actually doing? I thought it was adding a permanent folder that iTunes scanned for new songs.

itunes 'add folder' only adds what is in that folder at the moment. it does not scan it for anything new, ever, unless you tell it to.

i have had problems adding folders in 7.2 that I did not have before, it is VERY slow and looks like it is hanging.

There is no automatic way to add music, unless you count buying music from iTunes, or the Galleytech utility.

The other manual way to add music to your library is to drag and drop files or folders directly from Windows Explorer into your iTunes library. Which is the alternate method recommended for 'slick'.
