Greetings,
I promise I combed the forum archive before posting, but I was unable to find other folks with this seemingly unique problem. I'm using a MacBook with OS 10.4.9 and have a 1G Shuffle, which I bought back when I used a PC. (So the Shuffle is still PC formatted.)
My Shuffle had worked flawlessly in iTunes for months since I switched to Mac, but for some reason now, iTunes no longer puts my Shuffle in the Source list when connected. The really weird part is that if iTunes is closed when I plug the Shuffle into the USB, iTunes will open automatically -- but not put the Shuffle in the Source list, so I can't manage my songs or change them.
The Shuffle appears on the Desktop and in Finder when connected. This problem is unique to my Shuffle, since iTunes still recognized my other iPods when connected.
So far, I've tried rebooting my computer, tried both USB ports and have updated all my software through Software Update (including to the latest iTunes). I'd love to try restoring my Shuffle, but I can't since that apparently requires having iTunes put the device in the Source list.
Any thoughts? I'm stumped as to why this started happening out of nowhere. Thanks.
