I have a used 40gig click wheel (4th gen I think) and I am unable to sync it. It will initially ask me to restore it to factory settings, which I have done, it will then start to sync and freeze my whole computer. I have about 4,000 songs I am trying to download and I have only made it to about 400 before the freeze. I have a another 30gig video that syncs flawlessly. I am running windows xp and have norton antivirus, windows firewall. Sometimes when I plug in the iPod my computer will read it as IPOD rather than what I originally named it. Regardless, it will freeze. I have reset it, reformatted it, downloaded plug ins, I even tried to manage it in my computer, but it does not show up there in settings. I called apple and they have no idea and no longer support it, I called the company I bought it from and they told me to call apple, and if that didn't work they said to resell it on ebay. NICE. If anyone has any ideas I am all ears. Thanks.
