ipod turns on and off when usb is plugged in

Hi everyone..i just got my ipod from a buddy of mines yesterday and i was adding songs like normal...today i was doing the same..but earlier when i plugged the ipod back into the computer...it flickers on and off and windows can't even recognize it...i did a soft reset on it and still the same thing..can anyone help..thanks..

Have you tried a different iPod cable, different USB port, different computer? Rule out external influences first, then you can focus on the iPod if that's the source of the issue.

yes...i have tried different usb ports and different computers but now cable yet...i will try that later...my ipod works...but just connect be detected by the computer because it flickers on and off...

If it works when unplugged, it's probably one of two things. Either you have a bad cable (easy to diagnose and cheap to fix) or there is something wrong with the docking port.
