Alright I managed to get my Ipod to connect on a buddies laptop and got it restored it to default factory settings. It's completely wiped clean. (edit: I'd like to point out that before resorting to restoring it on that laptop it functioned perfectly fine and had no errors it just would not connect to anything besides the laptop.)

When I attempt to connect it to my new PC or my bro's it pops up with the Found Ipod in the bottom right followed by the Found New Hardware wizard which is then followed by the USB Mass Drive driver search/installation thingy.

I cannot get it past this point. I can't get Itunes or Windows to recognize it so there is no way for me to restore it again without my buddies laptop and he is not here and I do not have regular access to it. I'm assuming it's an Ipod driver problem due to the fact it works fine on the above mentioned laptop and all diagnostics check out fine except USB (because I had it connected my PC at the time) but it still works fine on the laptop and it's USB ports.

Itunes 7.0 can restore it but if it can't connect to Windows or Itunes there is no chance of restoring it that way and it seems the old Ipod updater tool has been discontinued.

I'm thinking that when I formatted my Ipod I might have actually used the Windows Disk Management utility and formatted it that way (possibly NTFS instead of Fat 32) but I'm not sure. All I know is it restored fine and I'm stuck.

What the hell am I supposed to do now?

(As an added note I am using XP with SP2, my comp has 2.0 USB ports, and my bro's 5G works like a charm on it too.)
