Hi there,

So I have this problem with my IPOD photo that I believe deserves a surgery to check the connection to the hard drive. This problem only came up last week for my < 2 year old IPOD

Everything works fine for the IPOD. I can plug my earphones into it, and play music , etc. But it has a problem when connected to the computer(Windows PC). IPOD would keep saying that the IPOD needs to be restored because it is corrupted. The IPOD will show up in My Computer and trying to access it will have a message about an I/O error.

Well, I have restored this guy several times already and the problem will always go away for like a few hours and then come back for another visit.

So I think something is messed up with the hard drive( I have had no problems with the battery). But I am having problems opening this dude even with my 1mm guitar pick(maybe I need a thinner one? ) . I tried a flat screw driver and it sort of scratched the surface, dammit.

Anyone has any great success stories opening up a 4G IPOD? Thanks

I forgot where I read it at, but squease the sides(not too much of course) and then intsert your pick(I have also read people using 5mm/6mm picks), then slide it up the sides of the ipod.

The way I opened mine was with the little tools that came with my headphone jack...They are very flemsy and all of then are already bent to the point of no return. I think I opened like 3 ipod before the tools died. Hope that helps

I've done it with knives, credit cards, and guitar picks

I even did it with the thing that holds my keys onto my pants at the bus stop.

after the first time, it's a lot easier to get it in there, no innuendo intended

LOL, thanks for the replies

Well, I bought several 60 mm guitar picks and managed to open it finally(starting from the top too actually) and didn't sever anything.
