Is there really such a thing as an "all-in-one" speaker? I'm going to buy a portable speaker system but I want it to have both audio and video outputs with syncing and charging capabilities for the iPod. I also want the speakers to accommodate encased iPods to its dock.
I'm currently looking at Journi and I have questions about it:
1. Can I use an a/v cable with a dock connector end and plug it in the dock connector on the sides of speakers? But the real question is... WILL THE A/V CABLE WORK?
2. Will an encased iPod fit in its dock?
Instead of buying a universal dock and a portable speakers... Why not buy a portable speaker with the capabilities of a universal dock in order to save money? :D
Please do help and if you have an recommendations for a good ALL-IN-ONE portable speakers (you know what I mean) then please do post. :D

Welcome. To answer your questions see: reviews & accessories>sort by category>sort by ratings and categories>scroll down to all-n-one speakers. This lists the reviews with ratings of the speakers to help you make a decision and give necessary information about each product.

But most of the reviews really don't answer my question... Like will the A/V cable with a dock connector end work with the dock connector port of Journi.... or will an encased iPod fit in the dock. :D Oh well, I'll read it again.

See these speakers for A/V connectivity:
Altec Lansing inMotion iM7 Portable Speakers (http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/ipod/review/altec-lansing-inmotion-im7-portable-speakers-ipod)
The Journi only has a Line-in port and USB connectivity & no A/V. Most ports unless stated will not work with a case on the iPod. From the picture a case on the iPod won't work for the full size since it is a close fit.
If your looking for A/V connectivity then look at the other portables & room-to-room speakers. There are others with better sound quality that have an A/V port but still may or may not allow you to use a case on the iPod unless it is open and room on the sides for the extra space of a case.
This SendStation Dock Extender (http://ilounge.com/index.php/news/comments/sendstation-ships-dock-extender-relaunches-smartcharge/) will allow you to use a case on the iPod with some speakers but it will depend on how they are made.
Still check the reviews & the pictures associated with them for a view of the ports.

So basically, you want:
1. USB port for syncing
2. Video out
3. A Universal Dock
I think you'd be very happy with the JBL Radial ($300) or the new Radial Micro for about half that price. They both got B+'s on their reviews here. The Altec Lansing im600 fits your requirements as well. The Logic3 i-Station7 has a dock connector port on the back like the Journi, but I'm not sure if the A/V cable would work with it.
