Continually having problems with Windows XP recognizing iPod shuffle!! Also, trouble with iTunes recognizing it! I just had to restore the suffle because all my songs got deleted and it was blinking orange/green (stating firmware damaged). Something keeps popping up on my comp. that says something about no Hi-Speed USB port or something..how do I fix this?? Getting very frustrated...

no hi-speed ports means you have USB ports version 1.1 this is the older type and just means its slower transfer speed but it shouldnt be what giving you problems as you've described. I can suggest you restore and use it as normal but eject the shuffle in iTunes by clicking the eject icon next to the shuffle under devices in iTunes before disconnecting it from your computer this may cause firmware damage.

Hopefully that answers it, although you may already be doing all of that, so post back

I restored the iPod (even though it took forever for it to recognize it so I COULD restore it). Still having problems with the computer recognizing it sometimes...I have to unplug it, restart the computer, then usually it will pull it up in iTunes. It's tedious, but it works I guess. How do I get new USB versions?? We just had to reboot our whole computer so thats probably what messed something up w/ them cause I never had a problem before. Thanks for your help!

go to a computer store and look to upgrade. If is your usb ports then it could be giving your printers, etc, problems too.

You can get a USB 2.0 PCI Expansion slot and plug it into your PCI ports inside your computer. Not a difficult task, and it'd definitely be worth it to you.
