do you like the zune or ipod better?
personally ipods are always #1 in my book

Is this a serious question? I defy anyone to say they would take the Zune over the iPod, albeit with the relevant justification.

I don't know how serious the question is, but I did meet a Best Buy employee the other day as I was shopping for a camcorder whom we got into a discussion on MP3 players (much to the dismay of my wife) and he mentioned he bought a Zune and we got into a small iPod vs Zune discussion. he supported his descision on the Zune because of the bigger screen.
He was someone who took meticulous care in ripping and encoding movies and he wanted a larger screen to watch it on and he also liked the subscription offering of the Zune store, so for those two reasons the Zune, for his personal preferences, did win out. He only called me an iSheep with fine humor. In countering I brought up that there were many better players than the Zune for video even, but the iPod certainly is not always the best choice as a video centric player, when there are players with larger screens and more codec support out there.
I can easily see how some people might choose certain players over the iPod and the reason doesn't have to be just because they don't like the iPod.

but im of course with ipod all the way :p
iPod > Zune.
But if it were up to me, I wouldn't buy either.

Agreed. Neither seem to meet my demands. I like the Zunes wireless capabilities but I would still choose the iPod over the two.

I like the idea of wireless capabilities, but what exactly about the Zune's wireless capabilities is there to like, besides the "promise" of potential? I mean so you can share a song between two Zunes for three days. What is there truely to like about that? Maybe something to like at it's core. I can share a song I really like with you, but they you have to find someway to buy it later, I may still have to rip and burn a CD for you or something, so why didn't I just give you a CD to begin with?
Hopefully the Zune's wireless capabilities will evolve, but right now that is an open-ended promise from microsoft being built up by the users of Zune who think that more features can be unlocked with simple firmware/software updates.

Well if the Zune runs as well as a Windows Mobile PDA device compared to a Palm PDA, go ipod. I just got a hand me down 2 day old iPaq and I am so ####ed off with it. The Palm is much better, even though my old one is quite old now. I'm persisting with the iPaq as I refuse to let anything beat me, but I wonder why MS make things so hard sometimes. :rolleyes:

if video is your MAIN priority the zune might not be a bad choice
i would still stick with an ipod because of the ease of use

Definitely the Zune for sure. It is far superior in looks (that brown is amazing) and style, and it is the next big player. I guarantee you in the short time that its out here it will gain at least 2% of the market share, right behind Apple's 70%. The Zune is also made in part by Bill Gates, who loves to make similar....I mean new innovative products.
Okay seriously, I'd choose the iPod, and have because I own two of them. The Zune looks fairly nice but its only offered in one spacial size so far (30 GB) and just the whole of it seems "anti-iPod". Sansa has a bigger market share. But what it comes down to is a great product, and Apple delivers time and time again with the iPod because of its ease of use, the quality of the product, and the fact that it does a lot of really neat things.
I still say if you want a video player (which the Zune seems to be appealing to that market) then get a PSP which is cheaper, and was designed to play videos and you can stick with 1GB of music.

What the kind of thread is this? Your on an iPod forum where this topic has been done to death. It's like me going to an Xbox forum and saying that I would prefer one over a PS3, lol there is no point to it.
Personally, I would take my PSP around with me everywhere if I had WiFi access. Why? It can stream my entire iTunes library through the web, it will play all my anime, all my PSone games, my homebrew, run the 'net and to a lesser (legal) extent play PSP games of a memory stick....oh and memory is cheap, I brought a 2gb memory stick for £20 and recently I managed to get a 4gb stick for the same price.
Who needs an iPod:p ?
Uh well, maybe me..., I don't get WiFi access everywhere...Period! :D
