I recently brought a 30GB 5g ipod, and am currently looking for a good set of neckband-style headphones. I'm finding it hard to find a good model however, as every review I read either lambasts the comfort, the sound, the style or the price. Is there no model that meets in the middle? Comfort and price are primary for me, but the sound should be at least average. So far I have looked at the Sennheiser PMX 100s (though some claim that the headband is a pain because it doesn't adjust and that you get alot of sound leakage), Koss KSC55s (lack of reviews at all) and Philips SHN5500s (claims that they are hellishly uncomfortable and the remote is annoying). I welcome the opinions and thoughts of other neckband headphone users. Thanks!

The IGrado headphones are very good. Here's a link to Amazon for more information:

PMX100s are good sound, and the iGrados are meant to be good as well. Don't think either of them adjust very well however. Might not be a problem of course - see if you can try them on. If its any use I am fairly large and have no problem with the Senns. Both leak sound being open headphones.

Sony MDR-G74SL are also OK - sound isn't too bad and they fold up better for storage on the move.

There is also a Senn PMX200 which is closed and therefore doesn't leak sound if that is a concern. It doesn't sound as good as the PMX100s which is its main drawback.

Could you give me a rough idea of how much the 100's leak? And also how much worse is the sound of the 200s in relation to the 100s? Thanks.

At moderate volumes they are not that bad, but in an enclosed space like an airplane they would be annoying.

The 200s are very much worse in sound - they have not much bass, and the tops are also lacking. The sound just seems muddled and recessed - though I believe that if you can get a good seal on your ears (which I never can) the sound can improve.

I like the PMX100 but as dimmer said, they do leak sound. Not as much as the igrados however.

Thanks for your advice everyone, I have gone ahead and brought a PMX 100 set. Thanks again!
