my 5g 60gb video ipod hard drive has just stopped working so i am ordering a new hard drive, but instead im just going to buy a 30gb hard drive. Would this hard drive work? http://www.mwave.com/mwave/Skusearch.hmx?scriteria=AA54680
its the same serial number as what the 30gb ipods use. but on the page it doesnt say anything about an ipod. thanks

I don't think so. Hard drives of different capacities might also have different sizes. I don't know if a 30GB hard disk is compatible with a 60GB iPod. You'd better confirm it with some apple official as well.

the harddisks get thicker in size as the capacities go up! therefore you can get a 30gb disk into a 60gb ipod with no problems, and the method of getting it to work will be the same so yes go for it!

i know a smaller hard drive would work because i put in a 30gb hard drive from another ipod but my question is if that website is selling an actual hard drive that is compatible with an ipod
