Either Senn. PX200s (small cans) or CX300s (ear bud) will do just nicely in that price range. :)

Sennheiser CX300 are the best in this price range. It's shows great details with deep tight boomy bass. These looks small and fits snugly(easy to insert and remove).

Senn PX100s are better sounding than PX200s.

Well... I don't know about you but I don't like everyone hearing my music. That's why I said 200s. I don't doubt they are good either.

A really good choice for an under US$50 headphone for a portable player is the Creative EP630. The noise isolation is excellent, and both the bass and treble sound surprisingly good. To get any better for an in-ear headphone would require an investment of around US$100.

I think Panasonic HJ70 and Sony MDR-EX90 are awesome for little more $$.

That's what I have always heard. I recommend the PX100's as well. They come in black or white, and they're quite stylish. You can find them online for under $50, and they include a really slick carrying case.

i had the same exact dilemma as you. i wanted headphones that stayed in well, were compact and sleek, sounded great, with good bass for under 50$. after a while of research and speculation i got the V-Moda Bass Freq's. They are GREAT, fulfilled all my expectations. Hope i could help :D

Another vote for the Sennheiser PX100's. I have had these for about a month and have been very pleased. The case is nice as well and they pack up nicely.

Both are comfortable and stay on well. The PX100 is slightly bass heavy - but also detailed with good highs. The PX200 is bass light for most people, because of difficulties in getting a good seal around the ear, and manages to muddle the sound totally, with anemic highs and lows.
