I have a 3rd generation iPod, and I have a factory 2.0.1 firmware. I just loaded the 2.1 firmware, however once I did that, my backlight contrast became really dim that I could barely see the words.
Then I loaded the 2.0.1 firmware back and my problem is solved.
Does anybody else have this problem?? Is 2.0.1 better or 2.1?
Thanks

I don't have that problem, the screen is fine on my iPod and I have 2.1 loaded. Try adjusting the contrast settings on your iPod (check the manual if you don't know where to find the option)
I find it is a tiny bit dimmer, but not as extreme as you mentioned, I think it's a little dimmer just to save a little more battery life.

I just loaded 2.1 again, and again, the contrast is really dim. So I went into settings to adjust the contrast, I had to adjust the contrast to 3/4 to make it look normal (2.0.1).
And I noticed in the background, there are incessant "flashings"..is that normal???????

Yeah, I've noticed with 2.1 it's a little more flickery too, again it's probably just to increase the better battery life.

yeah i've noticed the same things (flicker, and contrast needs to be set to 3/4) guess its normal.

I just recently upgraded to 2.1 and had to adjust contrast after the upgrade like everyone else. I also noticed that my iPod will sometimes reset itself even when there is still power from the battery indicator. When iPod reset itself, it ends up loosing the date/time and I have to reset it. Does this happen to other people?

I had the reverse thing happen - the install on the CD that came with my iPod caused the screen to go really dark after I formatted it for Windows. Upgrading to the latest firmware fixed the problem.
