Sometimes I have to take a break from the earbuds (I am starting to like the ones that came with iPod for some reason).

I own a Sony MDR-G42 (Sound good with the EQ treble booster, but low volume), and a Philips SBC-HS500 (like Sony, decent with EQ treble booster), both have more bass than the stock iPod buds. One is used for the computer.

I was wondering if I should stay with Sony, Philips, or look for another behind the neck from another brand. I don't want to spend more than $30.

Please help.

The only Sony streetstyle that I have heard that I like is the MDR-G74SL, which fits into your price range on Amazon right now. They are rougher in sound than the Sennheiser PMX100s but they are a long way ahead of the cheaper Sonys or Philips models.

For $10 more than your budget I would be investigating the PMX100s which are very good indeed, sounding more like $80 headphones than the $40 you can pick them up for.

The PMX100 is a great headphone for the money.
