I recently purchased a Refurbished 80 GB 5.5 iPod Video from Apple and have been quite happy with it so far. I noticed that the new ear buds did NOT come with the little black slip over covers for the ear buds. Did they stop the practice of including them with the ear buds?

New ear buds do not come with those. The new ear buds have rubber around the sides.

Funny, I was in an Apple store today. I saw a set of 5 pairs of earbud foamies being sold for $9.95. That works out to $1 per foam!!
And these things cost probably, what, 20 cents to manufacture in total?

They don't include them anymore, claiming the new earphones are more comfortable.
If you want them, I suggest buying a junk pair at a dollar store, and tossing the earphones, keeping the foam.

You can find iPod earbud foam covers really cheap on eBay. Just do a search for "ipod foam" and you should see what I'm talking about. You just need to find an auction that isn't selling them in bulk. :p

Well, I don't think I need them. I was curious though if they indeed stopped including them. I'll likely pull the ones off my old earbuds anyway...

It's odd though. I got the new Apple earbuds with my refurbished 30GB iPod Photo, and the earbuds came with two pair of foam covers. Maybe I got lucky.
