Firewire Charge?

Hi there, just wondering if anyone knows how i can check whether or not my firewire port can charge the iPod. I'm using PC and i havn't gotten my iPod yet. THX

As far as I know one of the purposes of firewire is that it powers whatever device you attatch to it as long as your PC is powered and does not go into sleep mode.

You should be able to tell from this:

4-Pin firewire cable:

??? Well the cord for my video camera has one end 4 pin and one end 6 pin it appears so im a little lost here?

The end that goes into the computer is the 6pin though...so does that mean anything?

If you're running XP, go start >> control panel >> performance and maintenance >> system >> hardware >> device manager

Then see if you have something in the list called "IEEE 1394 Bus host controllers. If you have then you have a firewire port.

If you want to charge your iPod via firewire, you have to have the 6-Pin firewire port. If you don't have one, buy can buy one for under ?40 and install it into a spare PCI slot.

Yes you will be. If when you use your camera, you plug the big end of your firewire cable in to the computer the square one with round end that has 6 gold pins in it. then that will be sweet for your ipod, and it will charge nice and easy.
