I am going to orlando florida next week. Im staying in a resort like 15 minutes from The Florida Mall. I just noticed my one earbud makes no sound at all. If I go to the apple store...to the ipod bar and just tell them...will they just give me a new pair there(my ipod is like 5 months old...80gb) or will i have to wait for them to be sent in the mail?

You can go to the Apple Store and tell them. If they find a problem (they'll try to find a way out of giving you a replacement), they'll give you a new pair.

What, if I may ask, are you going to be doing in Florida?

Why don't you buy new headphones instead of getting Apple ones?

If the iPod was purchased in another country, they may not provide warranty service for it. If it was purchased in the US, you'll want to have some proof that its under warranty.

In a perfect world they should since those earbuds cost $5 to make.

You shouldn't have to provide proof of purchase if you bought it in the US. When I've gone to the Apple store, they can magically look up the serial number or something like that to see when it was purchased.

You shouldn't have to provide proof of purchase if you bought it in the US.Assuming everything goes perfectly and they can find your data no problem, I agree. Personally, I prefer to have hardcopy proof. Particularly if it wasn't bought at an Apple store.

There's a multitude of reasons why they charge more than $5.

Providing they are still under warranty they should be easily replaceable, just be careful as you are in a different country and I am unsure on how they work.

When I had mine replaced, I gave them to the Genius, he plugged them into a PowerBook, and ran some sort of audio test. Then he turned around and pulled a new pair out of a drawer.

No questions asked.
