gonnna be going to circuit and best buy tomorrow and i wanted to pick up a new pair that are alteast = to the ones that came with my ipod but i really dont know what to look for can anyone help

the ones that come with the ipod aren't that great, so you can get comparable ones for under $30. However, if you're willing to spend a little more (which I highly recommend, even $50-$75 or so) you can get much better quality. Read the headphone reviews on this site.

Look for Koss KSC-75s for $25 at Radio Shack, they'll blow the stockies out of the water and rival some of the $50 - $100 pairs.
