HELLO i recently purchased sony ex-81s, and it sounds like something is wrong. I can barely hear any music at all. I have tried all sizes of the eartips. And also, I have owned ex 51's so I dont think its the actual way of me putting them in my ears that is the problem. So can anyone help me here? thanks

Either they are broken, or the phones aren't fitting you properly. The drivers are exactly the same as the EX71 but due to the different fit it sounds different for some people. That fit of the EX81 is IMO very badly designed and doesn't take into account the range of possible ear shapes at all. It could just be that you're not going to get a good fit from them.

you bought a sony product that's the first thing second thing is excatly what dodgyguy is saying the fit of most of the EX series won't fit a lot of people i had some of the 51's and besides the really poor sound and static at higher volumes it didn't matterwhat size i tried they all fell out if i moved at all

i brought them back for store credit and got a set of ultimate ear 3 live and they sound great and have a lot of options for the sizes ( besides being really nice looking nice with the red metalic housing ) but phillips has some phones for about $30 that fit most every ear and have good sound for cheap $$ i have a set i got at target that i use when i'm doing things outside so i don't mind it they get sweat, dirt bugs ... whatever in them and they have been through a lot in the 3 years i've had them

I think i had same prob with these because if something stuck in the whole where sound come from then these earphones doesn,t work. you have to look at in the small wholes and if something stuck there just remove it and it will work fine. I think it's better if you remove the whole paper thing from the earphone( i did it and iam happy now) and it will play louder than before.

I just bought a pair of 81s last night and I thought the same thing when I first put them on. Then I realized I just didn't have them "pushed" in my ears like they're supposed to be.

My wife laughed at me for a moment and I was then able to enjoy them. Being my first pair of ear buds, I think the sound is quite good for now. Maybe at some point I may try a more expensive pair but, I'm very happy with them.
