Cant get song onto iPod

Im sure you get this so much everyday, but I need help with my iPod. I bought it yesterday at BestBuy and so, I go to put some music on it using Windows Media Player like I did with my old Creative Zen MP3 Plaer. Well, it didnt transfer, so I tried again, and on my computer, it says I have all these songs on it and when I go to my iPod settings it says I've used up nearly 6 gig, and yet when I got to artists, or genres or songs or anything, nothing shows up. SO I thoguht, "maybe I have no chioce BUT to use iTunes" SO I go to download iTunes and when its done, I click run and I get a message saying its invalid or something like that. Does anyone here know what the solution to my problem is? Thanks for any help given!

Well since none of yall decided to help me, I decided I had to get it to work without your help. Anyways, to help yall since ya must not know the answer otherwise you'd tell me, the solution was to download iTunes on a different computer and then transfer to flash drive then put on your computer and download. Thanks for NOTHING!
