I've been using these two sets of earphones for the past little while:
1. Sony MDR-85
These have got great bass, but lack proper isolation. I find myself having to increase volume by at least 10-15% for most songs.
2. Pioneer SE-CL30
Great all-round sound, but lack the clarity and fullness I was looking for. Also, they're almost 2 years old now.
3. I've tried both the Etymotic ER-6i, and Shure E2/3Cs, but they just didn't sound right.
I've been thinking about the D-JAYS, Super.fi 3, and XtremeMac FS1. The latter two I've found on eBay for 60-75 bucks, buy-it-now pricing.
Any recommendations, or comments?
