View Full Version : upsides/downsides to a long cord?

saw the Sennheiser HD201, and plan on getting them, but noticed that it had a 10ft. cord.
what are the upsides/downsides to this?

I have my 10ft. cord tied up at the end and it feels like it adds to the size of me iPod. I haven't used it all the way out yet.

I see no upside, assume one's main application is of portable use. Maybe good for giants? :)

Upside: Freedom of movement; player can be located at a safe distance from listener (i.e. exercise), use on home stereo while lying on couch/floor; double as impromptu fishing line or jump rope.
Downside: Tripping hazard & strangulation.
