Hey, i have a ipod 80gb 5.5gen video which i recently bought.

It's great, but i have some chinese songs which when i try and put on my ipod, it has was symbols like ²@µL«O¯d

Any ideas of what this is, and how to solve it?

Very likely, it's that iPod will only support 1 language at a time. If you want it to display Chinese characters, you'll probably have to change the language to Chinese.

As far as I know, the iPod only supports the English language. I am not sure if it is possible to install language packs on your iPod. I think you should contact the apple staff for a better insight into the problem.

Did you even look at the settings on your iPod or the tech specs available on the Apple website? It specifically says "Languages

* Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, Swedish, Traditional Chinese, and Turkish
* Additional language support for display of song, album and artist information: Bulgarian, Croatian, Romanian, Serbian, Slovak, Slovenian, and Ukrainian"

This information can be easily found here (http://www.apple.com/ipod/specs.html). I double-checked before I posted, because I was not at all sure that Chinese was available, since I know it doesn't support Arabic display (I wanted to buy a language-learning pack before I deployed to the Middle East, and couldn't because of the lack of language support).

You would do well to verify your information before you post.

About that, I have no idea. The only thing I can think of is that it's a more obscure character. did you try changing the language display to see if they display correctly? (I'm making the big assumption that you read Chinese and could change it back to English if/when necessary.)

Hey, i just checked and my computer can't view some of the characters..that's probably why it won't show on the ipod aswell...so the actual problem is that i need to install a language pack for chinese on my PC....but i tried google, and i don't know where i can get one.
