Considering these for my 4GB Nano. Actually my wife will be using them as she is not interesed in anything going in her ear. What other options exist that are as good as the HD25's? I wish they were not black but then again it's really about how they perform.
I've seen the HD25's near the $200 price range. I can go plus or minus $50....really looking for the quality and comfort to be as good if not better than the HD25's.
Also...not interested in anything that would require an external amp to improve sound. Hoping the HD25's do not need one ? Finally...how does one know when an amp is required on headphones ? WHat are the indicators ?

There aren't a lot of great options among closed portable headphones, but the Audio-Technica ATH-ES7 ( http://www.audio-technica.co.jp/atj/sc/ath-es7/index.html) is an alternative that's available in white.

Make sure you get a HD 25-1.

i bought these for mixer duties, but so far they belong to my iPod! tried them out whilst walking away from the shop, plenty loud & bassy - watch yer volume levels!

i've been lurking around head-fi seeking a definitive answer to should i replace them with iEM's but remember, cans will always sound better especially if you like bass. even better you can replace the parts seperately, i'm getting a new spiral cable & coloured velour ear/headband pads. replacing the stock steel cable with an OFC copper one will work wonders also.
