hello... could someone please help me to connect my mac ipod to my new pc without losing the songs on the ipod? and preferably wihtout having to back up the songs from the ipod onto a mac... thank you.

No, it won't, you have it backwards. An iPod formatted for PC will work on both Mac and PC, but an iPod formatted for Mac will only work on Mac.

Mac computers can read PC-formatted disks. PC computers can not read Mac-formatted disks. Therefore, a Windows iPod will work on any machine, while a Mac iPod will work only on a Mac.

I know you said you didn't want to back up the songs on a Mac, but that's what I would do. Back up the songs on the Mac, reformat the iPod for PC, and reload your music from the Mac (remember Mac computers can read PC-formatted disks and iPods). You only need to keep the music on the Mac for a short while, and then you can delete it once you reload your (now PC-formatted) iPod. Then it's a simple step to dump the music from your iPod onto your new PC computer, and you're all set.
