Itunes resetting tags / blowing up db

Hello.

I am having a maddening problem everytime I use Itunes. Generally, I add songs using Ephpod, but on occasion, I buy a few Itunes songs, and when I add these to my Ipod using Itunes, a whole bunch of songs added via Ephpod have their tags reset to "Unknown Artist" and "Unknown Title."

Recently, it reset 1600 songs, which is a massive blow. Is there any reasonable explanation for this happening. I appreciate any insight any of the heads on this forum might have. . .

I don't use Ephpod, but something similar happens when I import tracks ripped from StationRipper. Itunes changes the genre of these tracks to "blues". In order to fix the problem, I right click and choose "convert track to AAC". This makes another copy of the song, on which I can edit the track. Then I delete the old track. This is time consuming, though, and may not be a good solution for 1600 tracks. Hopefully someone else will come along soon and offer a better solution. Good luck!
