I've just bought an extra hard drive to store my music on. But when I'm in the process of copying all of the songs across it keeps coming up with an "access denied" error.
The reason being that some of the mp3's on my original hard drive don't appear to have the full meta tags such as band or album name. This causes the process to stop at whatever point it had gone to.
It'll take me forever to go through all my albums checking for the full meta tags so is there a way to get around this?

Moving your music files to a new location? Stop right there. Drop what you're doing and step away from the folder. Do not move the files by yourself or you will break the link to iTunes, and the songs will no longer play when you select them.
What you need to do is this:
1) Change the "iTunes Music folder location" (found in Edit->Preferences->Advanced->General) to a folder (on the new hard drive in your case) where you want your music to be kept. Note that the folder doesn't have to be named "iTunes Music" if you'd prefer something else. Don't forget to apply your changes by clicking "OK" in the Preferences window after you make this change.
2) Use the "Consolidate Library" function (found in Advanced->Consolidate Library) to copy into the iTunes Music folder all files which are not already in that folder. Since this is a brand-new folder, that means all of your files will be copied here. iTunes will now use only this new copy of the file, so you can get rid of the original copies from your old hard drive.
Having or not having tags shouldn't affect this process, but I don't see why it would affect a regular copy/paste either... (Don't do that, though. Use the method I described, or you'll have much sadness).

That is what I was planning to do once I have copied the files over. The original copies are still in their normal locations. So are you saying that I must change itunes music folder location BEFORE I start copying and pasting them?
