My iPOD battery dies before Music Match Sync completes. Should my iPOD be charging through the fireware? Is there any better software out there for transferring music to iPOD? Maybe faster and easier.

You have to have a powered firewire connection for the ipod to charge while syncing. I use itunes for windows and the transfer seems pretty fast. Haven't run out of ipod power yet while transferring. Of course, I only transferred about 6 gig when I first uploaded. If your initial collection is much larger than this you may have to get a powered firewire card or just upload manually in increments with a charge in between. There's also a cord sold separately by Apple that lets you upload by USB 2.0 while charging thru the firewire to AC brick.
