i got one from overstock.com and it's very nice, but i can't figure out how to remove the lanyard so i can attach the alternate lanyard which allows the nano to hang upside down...

I do not have one but I am considering getting one if I get a new nano. Does it still let you charge with the usb while in the case? And use all the buttons?

the only button that is concealed is the hold button, otherwise it's a great case...

I have a capdase clear case for my ipod nano 2Gen, it works perfect, it does not cover up the hold button and actually brings out the luminescence of the ipod. I would definitely recomend it although you have to take out the case to connect your ipod, it is fairly easy to take it apart. - The case protects everything on your ipod exept for the hold switch.
