Loading songs and Artist Name appearing multiple times

I have 10 GB of 128 kps mp3s to load on my 15GB IPOD. Each artist has an individual folder and inside the folder are the albums I want to load. When I load say Elvis Costello, his name appears 6 times under the artist menu although the albums only appear once. Out of everything I loaded this has happened with 3 artists. I find it very irating. Does anyone know how I can correct this problem?

check your tags. you have spaces after the names and itunes/ipod picks those us as separate artisits.

Bet you were using MMJB at one time. Correct?

I am still using MMJB what is the problem and how can I fix it. I looked at EPHOD one time but had a little trouble figuring it out so I have stuck to MMJB

The problem is with MMJB. MMJB had a bug that would delete the last letter from some tags, so when I was using it, we had to put
a space at the end of the tags, so The Beatles, became The Beatles_. Eventually they fixed the problem by adding a space to the ends of the tags. Not a fix at all, but a bug. So The Beatles became The Beatles__, but if you ripped another cd by The Beatles it would actually be tagged as The Beatles_ so you would have two groups, one named The Beatles, and another named The Beatles__. Eventually, after years of use you probable could end up with any number of variations of The Beatles with multiple spaces at the end.

If you simply must use MMJB, then you will have to live with this, but please consider switching to ephPod or another program.

I've had the same "space" bug when I used to tag my MP3s with MMJB 7.5. However with 8.1 and 8.2 they've seem to have resolved that bug. All I ahd to do was tag everything again to make sure non of my MP3s were elft with spaces in their tags.
