Brand New 3G 20GB ipod new install of Windows XP. ipod charges but is not recognized by PC. Cannot use updater tried to reinstall several times.
Background: had ipod for 2 weeks then it died, no problems at all, till it died. have a belkin firewire card that I bought from apple so no issues there.
Had to reinstall Windows XP (30 days up activation code not arrrived yet) put it on a partition of main drive E: so that when i got my activation code i could save all of my data. Called apple last night and they told me that I had to install my operating system and the ipod software on the main C: drive in order to work. So i formatted C: Lost everything I had on that drive and reinstalled windows XP and ipod software. Still same thing ipod charges but will not connect. Called apple back and stayed on hold for 45 minutes and was cut off at closing time :(
thinking it might be the cable any suggestions
