I saw a box on the net once that could charge the ipod and gave you a aux output. It looked like alpine or pioneers box. But was around 60$ and still allowed you to controll the ipod from its buttons, no remote.
All I want is to be able to connect my ipod to my stereo (with aux, not headset output) and charge it. I just want a loose ipod connector lead, not a cradle or something like that. Just like the Monster icarcharger (http://www.monstercable.com/computer/productPageComputer.asp?pin=2132&LastPage=Apple%20Products) , but built for hardwiring. Maybe I should just mod a iCarCharger....
But it would also be sweet if it paused or turned of the ipod with the ignition of the car!
I have searched and searched but cant find it! Can anybody tell me where to find it?
Thanks!

Perhaps you are thinking of the USA Spec boxes:

These seem to be ment for spesific cars and radios? I just need on that is for generic use, all you have to have is a radio with aux in!
Thanks though :)

What kind of car/radio do you have.
There aren't many "generic" options. Most are for specific makes of vehicles with the factory headdecks.
If you have a stereo that you know has Auxillary cables on the back, I think the Blitzsafe product might be what you are looking for...

But I think it requires that you have the associated cables already on the back of your stereo. If you don't you may have to buy an extra adapter to fix with this.

Not aware of a hardwire power kit. IMO, the class of the field for "portable" (removable) connection that does everything you want is the Belkin AutoKit (http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=149006): a power tap with a dock connector on a 36" cord. The AutoKit supplies power and takes the iPod's output up to a wee amplifier; you provide your own cord to get from the AutoKit to your stereo's inputs. The built-in amp is great for level matching the iPod to the stereo (so when you switch from iPod to radio you don't get blasted out of the seat, etc.). Having the AutoKit's output right on the power tap/amp makes it very tidy; just one dangling cable.
For a "permanent" mount, you'd pick up a power socket from auto parts dealer, find a convenient place to hide it, wire it in to car's power, and then plug in the AutoKit. (Which is kind of a PITA, but there you go ;-) I like having mine exposed (just plugged into a power tap), 'coz then I can take it indoors for use with a 120VAC-to-12VDC converter (because I really like that small amp!).

Thanks for all the replys!
On the blitzsafe.com webpage I could not find any proper info.
But the belkin adaptor is close enough to what I am looking for, it has the aux output on the power socket, in stead of on the ipod connector.
I dont need the built in amp, as my ipod level is always just the same as the radio level, but I can just set it to the right position and tape it down =)
What happens to the iPod when you disconnect the 12v, pause or shut of or nothing maybe?
Thanks S2_Mac :)

With the Belkin, if you disconnect the plug from the iPod, or remove the power adapater from the socket, it pauses the iPod. It will then shut off after it's period of inactivity as normal.
For me the autokit is a dream. I have a small FM transmitter attached to the line out that gives me "fairly" clean sound, and I just added a proclip mount to my Grandprix, so it has the perfect place to connect to and all. I'm liking my setup now, though I'm still searching for that elusive direct to stereo connection for my Grand Prix.

Thanks again :)
I will buy a auto kit and hardwire it under the dash.
I dont know what a grand prix is, but good luck with your setup!
