First, thank you to everyone for teaching me so much about my iPod Nano. My girlfriend got it for me for Christmas, I guess she got tired of watching me carry around my heavy Zen JukeBox. Hehe.

Question Background:

I installed the USA Spec PA 11-GM into my 2006 Chevy Silverado 1500 W/T -- The truck has the factory AM/FM/Single CD unit. I have it installed in "Playlist Mode" via XM Method.

Questions:

When I turn th truck off, the iPod stays on. The only way for me to turn it off is to open the glove box and unplug it, then use the wheel on the iPod to shut it down. Which really stinks. I would like everything to shut off when I turn the truck off.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Pete

OK! I got the full deal on this riddle.

A) Go to iPod. Set "sleep" to on.
B) When the truck turns off, the iPod (in a short time (1 hour or less) will go to sleep.
C) After 36 hours, the iPod will go to "deep sleep".

Problem solved.

Depending on your locale, that iPod could be cooked to death or frozen to death (a horrible, lonely, warranty-less death at that ;-) within one or two hours of being unattended in a glove box. (Operational temps: 32F--95F; storage temps: -3F--113F)

While these values can be fudged a bit, the screen and hard drive have real limits on what they can handle. To me, that's the irony of using an iPod in my truck -- I can leave the CD changer onboard all the time, but it takes awhile to warm up enough to get over tracking problems; the iPod tracks great while the vehicle is warming, but I can't leave it in the truck at day's end.
