Hi,
I'm new to the iPod world by virtue of my recent purchase of an 8G nano - with which I am mega impressed :) (don't know why it took me so long really!)

Anyway, I'm now looking into getting an FM transmitter for it. Primarily this will be for use in the car, but also occassionaly on a home stereo.

From the products I can find I am particularly interested in the new (I believe it just came out in Nov. 06) XtremeMac Airplay Boost FM primarily due to it's snug fit on the new nano, but I can't find any reviews of this - has anyone had any experience with this transmitter?

Does anyone have any other alternative FM transmitters they'd recommend for the new nano?

Thanks,
Dave.

I note that www.mymemory.com are now offering a version for the 5g iPod, so I'll add my question - is the Xtrememac Airplay Boost FM any good ?

OK, my Airplay Boost arrived yesterday.

First impression - good build quality, fits to iPod nicely, the external antenna looks neat and when connected to the iPod it immediately and automatically connects.

No instructions with the product - you have to download a PDF.

I've only has a brief trial last night - and I've never used a transmitter before so I have nothing to compare it to - and my initial impression is that it works. I had trouble finding a station (nothing clear at the bottom of the scale but I got in at 107.8) but London's pretty crowded.

Some static when I turned a corner (my Citroen C2 has electric power steering - maybe that's relevant) but otherwise the quality marched my (lowish) expectation.

The problem is that it just isn't loud enough. I'm sure I read somewhere that transmission is poower dependent so I'll get a charging cable to see if that helps (if not it's probably new HU but that'as a real pain in a car with multiplex wiring, remote display and steering wheel controls).

Update.

They're not wrong about how different these things can be in different cars !

Although I'd give this 5/10 in the Citroen C2, when I use it in my Citroen Berlingo (same head unit) this thing is a definite 10/10 - way beyond my expectations for quality - and this time it's loud enough :D
