I've got a JVC KD-G400 and an iPod Video. Well, now comes to the time to make them work together. Instead of going to the FM Transmitter route I decided to hardwire it, choosing sound quality over ease of installation. The wire plugs into the CD changer input, power wire, and ground wire (I believe the power and ground wires are just for charging.)

I've got everything hooked up and plugged in, when the iPod is plugged in, it shows it's being charged. However when I plug in and start to play a song I'm unable to do so. The iPod plays, but no sound transmits. I've messed around with the settings and what not but can't find what works.

When I go to my settings menu (holding src) I can select EXT IN as "CHANGER", "SIRIUS", OR "INPUT". Selecting Input allows me to press the CD button and change to input, however no sound comes out. So this tells me when I have "CHANGER" selected I should be able to press CD to get to the changer right? Well it's not working. If I press CD while the iPod is plugged in, turned on, playing, and no disc in the player, I get a "NO DISC" message. If I try it with a disc IN then it just changed to my CD. Help! I can't figure out what in the world I could do any differently? It's almost as if the cable isn't sending any signal? Anybody else have this problem?

Thanks in advance for all your help

U can't use changer without a special adapter, which between other things, "fools" the receiver that there is a changer attached.

So, INPUT should had worked. Are u SURE u used the correct input leads?

I'm not sure how I wouldn't have used the correct input? The cable looks like this:

It just plugs directly into the CD changer input in the back of the radio (only goes one way I believe?) and then has two small wires (power and ground) which are hooked up correctly. I'm lost here haha

Ooookay. I took the time to google for the PXP04 specs, u owe me! :D

I think your prob is requirement#7 which I quote:

"7. IMPORTANT NOTE:In order for the PXP04 to work the Radio's J-Link input needs to be set properly to use the J-Link port as an AUX input. The head unit manual describes how to turn on the "AUX" or "LINE-IN" mode. [default setting is CD changer]."

:D Well thanks for googeling it lol but I still have the same problem. I changed the radio to Line-In mode by holding the SRC button down until I got the the menu, selected line-in mode, and then tried it, still no sound. Hang on, I'm gonna run to my car and try a few things, maybe snap a few pics for ya guys :)

Well ok, line in DID indeed work, however I've got another problem now. The cable that plugs into the back of the head unit isn't making the contact it should

If I twist it one way, I get sound out of my left speakers, and if I twist it the other way I get sound from the right. Now I have no clue what to do :shake:
