New 80gb ipod question

I have been forced to replace my original 20gb ipod with a new 80gb ipod since it crashed with an error 1418.

My wife has a windows laptop and I have a mac. Our original ipod was used only on the mac, but with this new one we want to be able to use it on both...

Any suggestions on how to get our new ipod to work nicely with both the windows and mac laptops?

Situation

1) Currently the mac has more music than the pc laptop... The goal is to be able to have all the music from the pc and mac on the ipod... We are looking for the best and easiest way to do this!

2) the PC laptop may have some of the same music as the mac so we would want to not have duplication if possible???

Any basic instuctions would be appreciated since we are fairly new with this stuff!

Format the iPod for windows and you will be able to use it on both computers. The Mac can read a windows formatted iPod and you can add music to it from both computers.
