Is there anyway to transfer my the songs on my iPod into my iTunes library?

Ok, so a while back my computer crashed and I had to get a new one. I just installed iTunes onto this one and I am wondering if there is any possible way to get the music from my iPod onto this new iTunes, because I know once you hit update that whatever your playlist looks like is exactly how its gonna look on your ipod and I dont wantto erase my playlist.

i wasn't sure if the sticky at the top of the page meant to the actual hardrive or the iTunes library.

If you get the files from the iPod to the hard disk then it is just one more dragging operation to get them entered into the iTunes library.
If you want to preserve playlists and other data from the iPod then you need to pay for Copypod or similar. If you just want the songs off the iPod then freeware programs like Yamipod or Sharepod will get them to your hard disk.
