Can't put an audiobook on it...

Can someone help me with this? I got my iPod for Christmas, and I got an audiobook file from a friend of mine. I'm looking forward to listening to it, but I'm not sure how to put it on the iPod (Nano)... It's not purchased from iTunes, being a gift from a friend, so I'm not really sure what to do...

What format is the Audio book?

Is it a Tape? Is it a CD? Digital Audio Book Download from somewhere if so what format? Need questions answered

I believe it's just an MP3. My friend just gave me the actual audio file... It went onto my iPod as "Music" :/

You won't be able to list it as an Audiobook unless you convert it to one. Using something like Markable (http://www.ipodsoft.com/site/pmwiki.php?n=markable.Homepage). Or you could create a play list called Audio books and just move it into that play list. If you use markable you also get the advantage of having it remember your place in the book.
